Breathe in. Breathe out. It will be okay.

Today, I submitted my retirement application documents.

I feel a calmness. I’m almost at the end of this chapter of my life, and I wonder what the next chapter will bring.

Anticipation

This next chapter hasn’t been written yet. There is only a bare-bones framework:

  • Live. Love. Laugh.
  • Find joy in everyday moments.
  • Be me.

Fear

Can we manage on less income? Will we still be able to afford the cycling trips we love so much? Will I be bored?

Questions with no answers at the moment.

And that’s okay.

I officially retire on September 22. The answers will come after that—as will solutions for whatever new things pop up along the way.

There is a sense of freedom. Yes, it is a big identity shift. But it is also exciting to be on the cusp of intentionally shaping who I will be in this next chapter.

How have you adjusted to the transitions in your life—whether retirement, becoming a spouse or parent, experiencing loss, or simply stepping into a new version of yourself?
