Basil is taking over my little patio herb garden.
A week ago, I had one of those huge Costco basil plants.
Usually, it dies on me within a week or so. Last week, I decided to try my hand at separating the seedlings. Well, today I have a baker’s dozen of basil pots.
There’s a quiet satisfaction in realizing: I can do this. I don’t have a black thumb. I enjoyed doing this. Who knew? Another discovery.
Six months ago, I wouldn’t have said I loved gardening – or experimenting to see whether I could actually grow something. But with a bit of care and attention, perhaps a small herb garden can thrive.
I enjoyed digging my hands into the dirt, trying to separate the tangled roots, nourishing the plants in their new homes and hoping they love it.
Life isn’t about rushing to the next thing. It’s about finding joy in things I never thought I would enjoy.
Who knew?
