Mark and I are off to Europe in less than two weeks on what is, in my view, an epic trip!
It’s all rather serendipitous. We planned it back in January 2026 – long before I knew I would be retiring. Now, the timing feels perfect: it will be my official kickoff to retirement!
During my burnout, I did no planning. I simply had no interest. But over the past month or so, I’ve started finalizing the details.
We fly into Zurich and stay for a couple of nights, then travel by train to Zermatt, St. Moritz, Verona, Innsbruck and Salzburg. Salzburg is where we begin our 10-day cycling tour, heading through the Alps and finishing in Grado on the Adriatic.
Mind-blowing, right?
The more I delve into the trip, the more excited I become!
I love off-the-beaten-path experiences and discovering things about a place that others may never find. Rabbit holes. Historic places – and when I say historic, I mean ancient, BCE-type historic, not something in Canada that we consider historic because it’s 100 years old. 😂
I’ve found a few quirky things that I hope we’ll get to experience. One involves mummies – but I’ll save that particular rabbit hole for later. I’ll take pictures and share our journey along the way. Maybe you’ll find it interesting. Or maybe not. That’s okay too.
