Hi, I’m Debbie
I’m a Newfoundland girl living in British Columbia, standing at the edge of retirement and wondering – with equal parts excitement and uncertainty – what comes next.
For almost thirty years, work was a big part of how I defined myself. Now I’m beginning a new chapter and giving myself permission to discover who I am beyond the job title, the responsibilities and all the things I thought I should be doing.
The Monroe Perspective is where I share that discovery.
You’ll find stories about cycling, travel, hiking and the everyday adventures that make life interesting. There may also be sourdough experiments, gardening victories, cooking mishaps, reflections on family and mental health, and the occasional appearance by Tippy, our small dog with a very large personality who is convinced he is in charge.
I don’t have everything figured out. That is probably the point.
I’m learning to slow down, notice the good moments, laugh at myself and find joy in things I never expected to love.
Sometimes that means cycling through a beautiful landscape. Sometimes it means successfully keeping basil alive.
This isn’t a blog about creating a perfect life. It’s about being curious, trying new things and finding meaning in the life that is already here.
Welcome to The Monroe Perspective. I’m glad you found your way here.
